The Monthly HCP Recap

On September 7 (Sunday Breakfast)

A lovely morning was had sharing fruit, dried ginger, dates, and homemade kombucha. Many people brought books with them to share about permaculture, companion planting, sustainable homesteading, and journaling.

On September 13 (Roadside Cleanup)

We hosted a road side cleanup on Dean Rd. in Oviedo, FL. We were happy to see the road was cleaner than many times. We did note that mowing was performed to close to a retention pond which means more trash could get into the waterway. The HCP wrote letters to city departments to explain the situation and stay active in our work to improve our community.

On September 14 (Sunday Breakfast)

We had our largest group to date! Thank you all so much for showing up each week!

Mia shared their zine, ANTi zine, which most recent issue focused on sustainable / indigenous agriculture including lemongrass, holy basil, and cranberry hibiscus teas. The next issue will be about Labor Rights and Mia is welcome to submissions.

Dean shared stories about his recent trip to Gainesville and spoke very highly of Payne's Prairie, a Florida State Park.

Margarita brought Butterfly Pea Seeds to share which helped inspire a seed share to be planned for September 28.

On September 21 (Sunday Breakfast)

We had a compassionate morning discussion about stereotypes and how we can judge each other too quickly if we're not mindful. Then the entire group went on a nature walk of the gardens and collected some seeds.

On September 28 (Sunday Breakfast)

Seed Share! Inspired by Nhan and Margarita we updated the meetup to mention we would be doing a seed share. The turnout was great with some new members attending because of the added activity. While looking through and sharing seeds a lot of conversation centered around making friends as adults and digital detox.

UPCOMING Events -- RSVP on Our Meetup.

Sunday Breakfast in the Garden

Every Sunday morning, a group of loving humans gather for fruit and tea under the Yew Pines of Mead Garden in Winter Park, FL. Every breakfast is different, but you can usually find some people doing yoga, intuitive movement, reading, or coloring. Everyone is welcomed with open arms and offered a multitude of snacks, tea and/or kombucha. Conversations are centered around love, compassion, and appreciation of nature and life.

Galt's Landing Food Forest is scheduled for October 26, 2025 after our Breakfast. We will be having our regular breakfast then giving people some time to get lunch and take care of pets before carpooling to Galt's Landing in St. Cloud for a tour of their food forest.
